Focus of week surrounded food sustainability and reduction in food wastage. Students had the opportunity to sample new fruits through the Crunch and Sip Program. Teachers also delivered the text Let’s Eat by Ana Zamorano using the Focus on Reading strategies (review of our professional learning). All students cooked with Mrs Cracknell and volunteers in the hall. Students cooked simple recipes using similar ingredients to demonstrate how they could cook at home using everyday ingredients for their family. While cooking, students participated in a program about food wastage and examined ways in which to reuse everyday items rather than putting them straight into the garbage.
